· John 1:6–8, 19–28
John the Baptist knows that his role is to witness to the light, not to become the centre. Healthy humility does not deny our gifts; it places them in service of something greater. Use your voice where it is needed, then make room for another person’s contribution. Joy grows when goodness can be recognised without becoming a competition for credit. The light is Christ’s gift, not a spotlight we have to defend.
A question to sit with
Where am I tempted to make a good work depend on being noticed?
One small step
Celebrate one person’s faithful contribution and complete one helpful task without attaching your name to it.
Pray
Jesus, true Light, teach me to use my gifts without seeking the centre. Make my words honest and my joy generous. Amen.
