The Immaculate Conception celebrates God’s grace in Mary from the beginning of her life, not the moment Jesus was conceived. Her later yes is a free response to a gift she did not earn. Advent can expose the belief that we must become impressive before God can love or call us. Receive grace first, then answer it through one faithful choice. Grace becomes fruitful through a free, daily response.
