· Psalm 107:1
Thanksgiving can hold joy and complexity together. A grateful table may also include an empty chair, financial pressure, family tension or work that continues through the holiday. Name one gift without pretending everything is easy. Then let gratitude widen the circle: thank someone whose labour made the day possible, include a person who might be alone or share food through a reliable local effort. Gratitude grows deeper when it becomes attention and generosity.
A question to sit with
What gift can I name honestly, and whose effort helped make it possible?
One small step
Offer specific thanks to one person, then share food, time or welcome in a realistic way.
Pray
God of every good gift, receive our honest thanks. Remember those carrying grief or need, and make our gratitude generous. Amen.
