· Luke 19:41–44
Jesus weeps over Jerusalem. His sorrow is not detached commentary; it reveals love that sees both a beloved city and the harm people fail to recognise. We can protect ourselves from pain by turning suffering into an argument or statistic. Choose one difficult situation and learn enough to see the people within it. Compassion does not require solving everything. It asks us to remain human, pray truthfully and take the next responsible step.
A question to sit with
Whose suffering have I kept at a safe, abstract distance?
One small step
Read one trustworthy account centred on affected people, then choose a prayer or practical response.
Pray
Jesus, You wept for a city You loved. Keep my heart attentive and guide compassion into truthful, responsible action. Amen.
