· Luke 17:7–10
Some acts of faithfulness receive no applause. They are simply part of a promise we have made or a responsibility we have accepted. Jesus’ words do not erase the dignity of workers or excuse exploitation. They challenge the desire to turn every good act into a claim for recognition. Complete one responsibility because it serves someone well. Then notice another person’s quiet work and thank them, refusing to let their service become invisible.
A question to sit with
Where am I waiting for praise before doing what love already asks?
One small step
Finish one ordinary duty, then offer specific thanks for someone else’s dependable work.
Pray
Jesus, free me from the need to be noticed. Help me serve faithfully and honour the service of others. Amen.
