· 1 Corinthians 3:9–17
The feast of the Lateran Basilica celebrates a church building, yet Paul also calls the Christian community God’s temple. A parish becomes more recognisably a home when people are welcomed, protected and given room to participate. Think beyond the condition of the building. Who finds it difficult to enter, understand what is happening or feel noticed? You may not be able to change everything, but you can make one doorway wider through attention and practical help.
A question to sit with
What helps a person feel that they genuinely belong in a parish community?
One small step
Greet someone you do not usually speak with, or ask a parish leader about one practical need you can help meet.
Pray
Lord, build us together into a living home for Your presence. Make our communities truthful, safe and welcoming. Amen.
