Jesus describes a builder who sits down before beginning a tower. Discipleship asks for more than enthusiasm at the start; it reaches into the choices that sustain a commitment. Before adding another good activity, consider what it will require of your time, attention and household. Is there something you should stop so that you can give yourself honestly to this? A carefully chosen yes can be more generous than several promises that leave others waiting.

Review one commitment before renewing it. Make a realistic plan, or speak honestly with the person relying on you.
Pray
Lord Jesus, teach me to follow You with a willing and thoughtful heart. Give me freedom to let go of what prevents a faithful yes. Amen.
