Bring the uncertainty into prayer

Jesus’ teaching about trust does not make practical worries imaginary. You can tell God honestly what feels frightening: a lost role, an unanswered application or not knowing what comes next. Your dignity does not begin with a job title. Keep one ordinary prayer practice if it helps, and allow it to be brief.

Separate today’s task from the whole future

Write down one action you can take today, one question you need to ask and one concern that cannot be resolved immediately. A task might be updating a section of your résumé, replying to a contact or checking an application deadline. Set a stopping point so that the search does not fill every available moment.

Ask for practical help early

A trusted contact may review an application or introduce you to someone in your field. Your parish or local community may know of employment support and assistance for immediate needs. Check eligibility, costs and terms directly with the relevant service. You do not need to disclose personal financial details to a group in order to ask where help can be found.

Keep a life around the search

Make room, as circumstances allow, for meals, rest, familiar relationships and ordinary responsibilities. If worry is persistently affecting daily life, seek qualified support. You can also speak with a priest or pastoral minister about discouragement and identity. Taking care of yourself is part of living through this uncertainty, not a reward reserved for its end.

A prayer for this moment

God, accompany me in what I cannot yet see. Guide my work today, help me receive practical support and remind me that I am more than the outcome of this search. Amen.
